In 2005, Ningbo was twinned (became a sister city) with Nottingham, in the United Kingdom – the city that I was born in. One of the things that came out of this twinning, was the establishment of a campus of the University of Nottingham. The Ningbo campus is one of two outside of the United Kingdom. The other is in Malaysia.
A walk around the campus quickly reveals that it’s a very multi-cultural university. Apart from Ningbo locals, there are a large number of Britons attending also. There’s also a Nottingham River! Not quite authentic, with Nottingham’s local river being known as the River Trent.
The visiting of students isn’t just one way. Many students, from the Ningbo area, also end up going to the University of Nottingham’s main campus, in Nottingham.

Good Post. I didn’t know about the sister city to Nottingham.
I only found out about that about five years ago. Since then, I’ve been wanting to go there. 🙂 I finally made it a few years ago, and then the following year.
