I know what you’re thinking: “A Product Review?!? Andi, you’re kind of a big deal now!” Well, yes… yes, I am. Thanks for noticing. All I need now is a fancy schmancy giveaway, and I’ll be all nipping at Dooce’s heels! Um, yeah, not even close. But still, a girl can dream.

I heard about this stuff called Skin MD Natural, and I was excited to try it. I have chronically dry skin (I live in a desert and I’m a nurse… you do the math) and Lauren has suffered from eczema since she was a baby. It always appears in the same spots – her elbows and knees – and I have tried a million different products in an attempt to soften her rough scaly patches. And none of them truly worked. Oh, they’d seem promising, but in the end, the eczema prevailed.

So when the bottle of Skin MD Natural arrived in the mail, I was skeptical to say the least. I’ve long since given up on finding something that would eliminate her itchy spots. But being the awesome Mom that I am, I decided to try it out and give it a fair assessment. After Lauren’s bath that night, I slathered it on, paying particular attention to her scaly elbows and knees.

The first thing that I noticed about the Skin MD Natural lotion was that it was very thin. I expected it to be thick, Vaseline-y, greasy. But it’s a light lotion (not even really a cream), which took me by surprise. I wondered how it could possibly work, being that it didn’t seem to be heavy enough to make a difference. Boy, was I wrong. Instantly, Lauren’s skin felt soft and satiny. The patches of eczema felt significantly softer. It’s hard to describe, but they actually seemed a little plumper… like the dry scaly skin had soaked up a bunch of moisture and wasn’t as dry. We might be on to something here, I thought.

I have now used Skin MD Natural on Lauren’s skin for over a week. The instructions recommended using the lotion every few hours until the skin is improved, but that’s a little hard to do when you’re a busy Mom. Oh, hell, who am I kidding? I couldn’t remember to do it that often. I managed to massage some of the lotion into her scaly patches at least daily, and then used it on the rest of her body just after baths.

If you ask Lauren what she thinks about the lotion, she would tell you that she’s not itchy anymore. And that alone is enough to make me grateful for the product. Her eczema patches are not entirely gone, but they are softer than I’ve ever seen them in her entire life. And a side benefit? My hands are pretty darn soft, too, just from applying the lotion to Lauren’s hands.

Like I said before, I’ve tried EVERYTHING out there. Absolutely everything. And this is the first product to actually make a significant difference in Lauren’s skin, so I’m sold. Check it out for yourself and see if it doesn’t make your skin baby soft, too!

One question - does it have a strong smell?
    My allergies/sinuses can't handle perfumy type smells.]]>

< ![CDATA[Shannon - If you click on the link in the post, there is a feature on the website that lists places where the product is sold. In our area, they are available at Walgreen's and Smith's, among other places.

Kate - That's one of the things that I love about it. It's an entirely natural product so there are no artificial colors or fragrances. It has absolutely no smell whatsoever!]]>

< ![CDATA[That sounds like a great product. I'll have to try it. I've never had dry skin, but living in Africa has changed that, especially on my feet, probably because I live in flip flops. I also love anything natural. Thanks for that tip!]]>
